The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Alhaji Musa Timothy Kabba, has denied social media reports claiming that Sierra Leone is among 43 countries facing potential visa restrictions or travel bans from the United States.
In a statement, Minister Kabba clarified that his administration had not received any formal notification from the US government regarding such a list.
He dismissed the alleged list—reportedly published by The New York Times and widely circulated on social media—as false. According to Minister Kabba, his discussion with the United States Ambassador to Sierra Leone, His Excellency Bryan David Hunt, confirmed that the document in question was not an official publication of the US State Department.
The minister reassured the public that the US Embassy in Freetown continues to process and issue visas to qualified applicants.

He further urged citizens to avoid spreading unverified information and to rely solely on official sources for updates on visa policies.

Even though the claims of this report is not true but there are DV cases which are yet to be processed and 2024 DV winners are over 900 and since the starting of the fiscal year 2024-2025 DV processing is still not up to date for interview.
