The Deputy Minister of Information and Civic Education, Abdel Aziz Bawoh has stated that President Julius Maada Bio intend to decongest Freetown and improve on the lives of people.

Bawoh made this statement while speaking on the issue of the Lungi Bridge construction.

He said some Ministries Departments and Agencies (MDAs) will be relocated to Lungi, which he describe as extension promote decentralization.

The Lungi Bridge after construction he said will connect the capital city Freetown to the Northern town of Lungi thereby providing easy access to and from the capital or airport.

He also said that the bridge envisioned by the President remains a strong aspiration of the government, adding that discussions on exploring the project feasibility with private investors are ongoing.

Bawoh clarified that the proposed construction of the Lungi Bridge was not in the presidential manifesto of President Bio, but an aspiration which the president is very much personate about.

It could be recalled that the Government of Sierra Leonean recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with China Road and Bridge Corporation and the architectural firm, Atépa Group in a bid to expedite this all important project.
