Deputy Minister of Trade And Industry Speaks on Abacha Issue

In a statement during the handing over of office ceremony to the new Resident Minister of the North-west Region on the 11 August 2023, the Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry explains there move as ministry in addressing Abacha street traders issue.

“We have met with the women in Free Town who were pushed to the street and police remove them. We make sure that the women went back to the street but by September they will go the Victoria Market,” she said.

She made this statement in way of highlighting some of the work of the ministry in the short period of one week.

She added that they met onion shortage but it is now available in the market.

The Minister also thanked the president for appointing her to the position and noted that her father is originally from Kambia and mother from Port Loko.

We are now leaving in modern world, That street it's crucial and major in our city of freetown. If the government stop them to end trading in that particular street it's very significant step. Therefore, citizens should be happen with that move. Although the manner as which it's was conducted was not properly done. Notwithstanding, its was good initiative to offer Victoria park as trading zone, Even the construction of the park it's not standard but manageable. Corruption it's not still allowing our country to grow. I saw one market, which the government of Accra constructed just like PZ avenue, There's car park right up the building which accommodate more than 1,000 cars and within the same building different businesses by sections,as well as down floor petty traders are engaged into their own trading arena by sectors. Back to the history when formal prezo ABK initiated,the first construction implement was pan body ,later another local buildings,up to three consecutives time until, finally arrived to put another low grade building. Our country it's thinking locally base on corruption ambition Not like the are not seen how the world is moving With all those treatment our politicians are putting us through Why are we not gaining consciousness to resist them not use us anymore for their own gains

You kicked them out of their market place ignoring the consequences, they have a family to take care of for crying out loud!!! How do you expect them to survive without doing business?
