The Ministry of Communication, Technology and Innovation (MoCTI) has hosted a Focus Group Discussion on Sierra Leone’s draft National Data Governance Strategy.

The discussion aimed to gather insights on the draft strategy and assess the current state of the data ecosystem across government institutions and key sectors.

The discussion brought together voices from across government, civil society, academia, tech, media, and the private sector, all focused on how to govern data in a way that protects citizens, empowers institutions, and drives national development.

Furthermore, the session created a space for listening, learning, on how data should be handled, used, and safeguarded across our public systems.

Finally the Ministry of Communication Technology and Innovation extended thanks to everyone who showed up, shared ideas, and challenged assumptions. The work of building a resilient, inclusive, and future-ready data ecosystem is a collective one, and today was an important step forward.

As Sierra Leone continues to invest in digital transformation, this strategy will serve as a foundation, helping ensure that our growing digital systems are people-centered, ethical, and effective.
