The Ministry of Communication, Technology and Innovation in partnership with the United Nations International Children Emergency Fund (UNICEF) and the Digital Public Goods Alliance, has announced a crucial initiative to empower students across various universities.
The program is designed to empower students across Sierra Leone to host Digital Public Goods (DPG) Meetups on their university campuses.
Following a competitive application process that saw over 70 students apply, representatives from ten universities have been selected to lead these meetups.
The events, scheduled to take place over the next two weeks, notably aimed to foster collaboration among students and promote the use of open-source technologies to address local challenges.
The Ministry emphasized that the DPG Meetups will focus on three key objectives: raising awareness about Digital Public Goods, encouraging locally driven and owned solutions, and building a strong network of young innovators.
To facilitate participation, the Ministry has provided resources for students interested in hosting DPG Campus Meetups.
A comprehensive Guide to Host a DPG Campus Meetup is available, along with access to the DPG Discourse Community and various DPG materials and guides.
The Ministry of Communication, Technology and Innovation expresses its gratitude to UNICEF and the Digital Public Goods Alliance for their support in this initiative.
