The Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education (MBSSE) has announced that the Government of Sierra Leone will cover the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) fees for all approved private candidates who were unable to participate in the May/June 2025 session.

Under the leadership of His Excellency Brig. (Rtd.) Dr. Julius Maada Bio, this initiative aims to provide these candidates with the opportunity to sit for their examinations in November 2025, reinforcing the government’s commitment to expanding access to quality education.

In preparation for the examinations, the Ministry has put in place a series of measures to ensure the smooth conduct of the November 2025 WASSCE. As part of these efforts, MBSSE is working in collaboration with Afrimoney to verify the list of registered private candidates, ensuring that government resources are directed to the intended beneficiaries.

The Ministry also encourages candidates to take full advantage of the ongoing remedial classes, emphasizing that this support is crucial for improving academic performance.

“The Government of Sierra Leone is steadfast in its dedication to expanding access to quality education, reducing financial barriers, and providing an equitable environment for all learners striving for academic success,” the Ministry stated.
