The ministry of Gender and Children Affairs has held a two day regional stakeholders sensitization training workshop on the Communication strategy for the implementation of the Gender Equality and Women Empowerment Policy.
Addressing participants at the BO IN hotel the Assistant Director, Ministry of Gender and Children Affairs Anita Esther Momoh thank evey one for leaving their busy schedules to grace the training. The importance of the training she said is to pave a level playing field to all present to see how they can communicate messages that deal with children and women in for format across the board.
She added that for far too long now the ministry has not been happy as to how SGBV messages are communicated to the public but pleaded that by the end of the training stakeholders present will know how they can report on issues that deal with children and women issues especially when it comes to the issue of sexual abuses and the violation of their human rights.
Anita Momoh however confeses that by the end of the training participants present will have a positive approach in communicating GEWE message across-the-board.
The Assistant Director further disclosed that her ministry is pushing hard to ensure that women’s voices be heard at all quarters and they should be represented in all section more especially the implementation and enforcement of the 30 % coter for women.
Gender Officer pujehun District council Ibrahim Kabiru describe the training as not only important but timely and called on all to take the training seriously for it intended purpose. As a Gender Officer he added they training is an eye opener for them to push women and girls to know more about their roles and responsibilities and their rights.
Meanwhile topics discussed during the training workshop were understanding the gender equality and women empowerment policy and the act, understanding GEWE communication strategy, Clarification and suggestions on the implementation of the strategy, Local council action plan for the implementation of the GEWE policy* among others.
