The Ministry of Lands, Housing and Country Planning has officially launched a strategic field operation to recover all State Lands in the Western Area Rural communities.

According to the Minister, Dr. Turad Senesie, the operation is meant to adequately stock the State Land Bank and fairly and transparently distribute land resources to Sierra Leoneans through the land raffle and other models.

While addressing a contingent of staff and police officers at the Kerry Town sub office of the ministry on Tuesday July 12 2022, the Minister stated that the era of land grabbing is over, noting that the State is all set to recover its properties from the hands of land grabbers over a period of three months in the first phase of this operation.

The teams of police officers, surveyors, engineers and land guards among other personnel have been dispatched to various locations including Kerry Town, Macdonald, Big Water, Kent and York among other locations in the Western Area Rural District.

The Minister has called on members of the general public to fully cooperate with the operation as the recovered land is meant for every Sierra Leonean.
