The Ministry of Gender and Children’s Affairs has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Cybastion, a U.S.-based technology and cybersecurity firm, to explore strategic collaboration aimed at expanding opportunities for women through innovation, entrepreneurship, and skills development.
The initiative focuses on advancing programmes that promote technology innovation, entrepreneurship, agricultural value addition, and vocational skills training for women across Sierra Leone. As part of this vision, the programme is expected to benefit 5,000 women through digital literacy training, strengthening their capacity to participate meaningfully in the digital economy.
According to the Minister of Gender and Children’s Affairs, Dr. Isata Mahoi, this initiative is powerful because it is open to every woman who is willing to learn. Educated or not, literate or not, if a woman is interested and ready to develop her skills, this opportunity is for her.

Adding that the courses will be offered as independent modules that women can access online continuously, helping them gain practical vocational skills in digital and entrepreneurial fields.
“For me, this moment goes beyond the signing of an agreement. It represents the responsibility that comes when an activist steps into government. When an activist becomes a government official, her role is not simply to sign her name on documents. Her responsibility is to create real opportunities that advance the lives of women and girls,” she explained.
Finally, this partnership reflects the Ministry’s continued commitment to empowering women with the skills, knowledge, and opportunities needed to contribute to inclusive growth, sustainable development, and national progress.
