The Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs held audition for fashion designers across Sierra Leone.

The audition was held to select representatives for the Women in Tourism Regional Congress which will be hosted by the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs in collaboration with the UN Tourism slated for 29th to 31st October 2024

The selected designers will be exhibiting their products during the Women in Tourism Congress.

During the audition, the designers exhibited their product showcasing trend analysis, pattern making, garment construction, sewing techniques, African fabric selection, organic and recycled designs and other various designing skills.

Deputy Minister of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, Khadijatu Grace Kamara on behalf of Minister Nabeela Tunis thanked the designers for exhibiting their unique products. She stated that the audition was aimed at eliminating duplication of products that will be exhibited during the Regional Congress.

Madam Kamara announced that three fashion designers, Davida Peacock-Sawyerr, Mariama Kamara and Phedelia Thomas will represent Sierra Leone at the next Expo in China.

In another engagement, the Ministry met with the Chef Association of Sierra Leone. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss with the association for them to do live cooking of typical Sierra Leonean delicacies during the Women in Tourism Regional Congress. The Ministry’s request was swiftly accepted by the Chef Association who gave their utmost commitment to the success of the event.
