The Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs hosted a high-level meeting with a visiting Russian delegation to discuss opportunities for cultural exchange and cooperation between the two countries.
The delegation was accompanied by Hon. Sahr Emerson Lamina, who welcomed the visitors and highlighted that the engagement offered an opportunity to explore areas of collaboration. He said the discussions focused on strengthening cultural ties through exchange programs, including presentations on Russian culture and potential partnerships benefiting both nations.
Speaking on behalf of the Russian delegation, Natalia Krasvoskaia highlighted the work of the Center for Public Diplomacy in promoting cultural diplomacy and fostering dialogue between Russia and African countries. She noted that the organization facilitates youth and women’s dialogue initiatives, educational exchanges, and broader cultural programs, and expressed plans to expand their presence in Africa, including potentially establishing a representation office in Sierra Leone to deepen cooperation in education, science, technology, and culture.
In response, Minister of Tourism and Cultural Affairs Nabeela Tunis welcomed the initiative, reaffirming the government’s openness to partnerships that support tourism and cultural development.
The meeting concluded with both sides expressing appreciation for the constructive engagement and optimism about future cooperation in Sierra Leone’s cultural and tourism sectors.
