Popular Sierra Leonean sports journalist Hawa Dauda has disclosed a major revelation from the recently concluded Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) Transition Committee review process.

According to Dauda, the Committee’s Chairman, Dr. Isaac Massaquoi, confirmed that Leone Stars’ Head Coach, Mohamed Kallon, declined to meet with the Committee, insisting that it was “not necessary.”

Dr. Massaquoi expressed disappointment at the coach’s refusal, stressing that his input was considered crucial to the Committee’s work. “Leone Stars’ Head Coach Mohamed Kallon refused to talk to the Committee, saying it was not necessary. We were disappointed,” he said.

The Transition Committee was formed by the SLFA Executive Committee following the August 2025 elections to oversee a smooth handover and conduct a functional review of the FA’s key departments. The Committee successfully engaged senior staff across finance, administration, competitions, media and marketing, legal, and human resources before completing its assignment.

While most stakeholders fully cooperated, Dr. Massaquoi’s revelation as reported by Hawa Dauda highlights one of the few gaps in the process, particularly given the central role of the national team coach in shaping football development and technical direction.

The Committee has since submitted its final report to the Executive Committee, recommending reforms aimed at strengthening governance, compliance, and operational efficiency within the SLFA.
