The Minister of Higher and Technical Education, Ramatulai Wurie has revealed the Government’s commitment to complete the Kono University of Science and Technology with immediate effect.
She maintained that, the government has registered its total commitment by contributing 2million dollars which is in addition to the 32million dollars loan provided by the Indian EXIM Bank for the construction of the various buildings and facilities of the university.
She said the ministry is also trying very hard to see that there is no delay and vacuum in the construction and operations of the university.
“To ensure that this comes to effect, we have done many things. We first off constituted a transition team and I would like to thank the Earnest Bai Koroma University of Science and Technology for their constant technical support on the team and others who played an effective role,” she stated.
She furthered that, 80 students have applied for admission to the Kono University of Science And Technology and 20% are women. “We will start operations in January 2024 and work towards making the university a center of excellence for mining engineering course,” she maintained.
