The Ministry of Technical and Higher Education (MTHE) held a significant meeting with Vice Chancellors and Principals of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) to discuss their progress and requirements.

The meeting underscored MTHE’s commitment to advancing the development of HEIs across Sierra Leone.

Deputy Minister Sarjoh Aziz-Kamara highlighted the importance of ongoing collaboration and communication between the Ministry and HEIs. He described the meeting as a family gathering aimed at reviewing the current state of affairs and determining how best the Ministry can support these institutions.

Key topics covered included the academic calendar, with Vice Chancellors and Principals updating on exam schedules, research activities, and digital learning initiatives. The Ministry stressed the importance of adhering to the academic calendar to ensure uninterrupted education for students.

The discussion also encompassed upcoming graduation ceremonies for 2024, budget proposals for 2025, extra charges, and the condition of laboratory equipment. The meeting aimed to address these issues to enhance the operational efficiency and academic standards of the HEIs.
