The Ministry of Technical and Higher Education (MTHE) has welcomed its new Permanent Secretary, Mohamed S. Kargbo.

Mr. Kargbo takes over from Mr. Gilbert Cooper, who has been appointed as the Director General of the Ministry of Defense. This significant leadership change aims to further enhance the Ministry’s mission to provide technical and higher education opportunities for the people of Sierra Leone.

In his handling-over note, Mr. Cooper highlighted the accomplishments and challenges of the Ministry and urged the new Permanent Secretary to build upon the excellent work of the Ministry’s management and staff. He emphasized the importance of collaboration and teamwork to ensure efficiency in service delivery. This approach, according to him, reflects the core values of the Ministry, which prioritizes the growth of its employees and the advancement of the country’s education sector.

Mr. Kargbo, in his acceptance speech, reiterated his commitment to working closely and collaboratively with the management and staff of the Ministry. He noted that he firmly believes in the power of teamwork and acknowledges the vital role that every individual plays in the success of an institution. With mutual respect as one of his core values, Mr. Kargbo said that he aims to foster a harmonious and productive working environment within the Ministry.

Dr. Haja Ramatulai Wurie, the Minister of Technical and Higher Education, expressed her delight at the appointment of Mr. Kargbo, stating that the meeting was highly beneficial as it allowed for the handing over of important updates from the different directorates and units of the Ministry. She also took the opportunity to thank the former Permanent Secretary, Mr. Cooper, for his valuable contributions and years of service to the Ministry, noting that his wealth of experience was an asset to the team.

Dr. Wurie urged the team work together in a collaborative and supportive manner, emphasizing the importance of mutual respect and teamwork in achieving the Ministry’s goals and objectives.

The Chief Technical and Higher Education Officer at the Ministry of Technical and Higher Education, Dr. Josephus Brimah, expressed his positive sentiments towards Mr. Kargbo, citing his previous encounter with him as a respectful and competent individual. Dr. Brimah also highlighted the importance of consulting with the entire team, including management and staff, to develop a strong team spirit in the workplace.
