A one-day multi-agency training has been conducted in Kono District as part of preparations for the opening of a new rehabilitation center aimed at addressing drug abuse and supporting youth recovery efforts.
The training, organized by the Central Youths Organization (CYO) in collaboration with partner institutions, brought together a cross-section of stakeholders, including community leaders, health practitioners, youth advocates, and representatives of relevant agencies.
The session focused on strengthening coordination, building professional capacity, and aligning strategies to ensure an effective response to substance abuse challenges in the district.
Participants engaged in discussions on best practices in rehabilitation, case management, community outreach, and inter-agency collaboration. Emphasis was placed on the importance of a unified approach to tackling drug-related issues, particularly among young people, who remain one of the most affected groups.
Organizers described the initiative as a proactive step to ensure systems and personnel are adequately prepared ahead of the center’s official launch. By strengthening partnerships and clarifying stakeholder roles, the training is expected to improve service delivery and long-term rehabilitation outcomes.
The upcoming rehabilitation center is expected to serve as a critical support facility in Kono District, providing structured care, counseling, and reintegration services for individuals affected by substance abuse.
The training underscores a broader commitment by youth-focused organizations and their partners to promote safer communities and empower young people through targeted interventions and sustained engagement.
