Dr. Shamsu Mustapha has been reappointed as a member of the Board of Directors of the Bank of Sierra Leone, according to an official statement released by the Office of the President.
The reappointment, detailed in a letter dated March 20th, 2025 (Ref: OP/EP 50/401/01), extends Dr. Mustapha’s tenure for another three years, effective from January 13th, 2025.
The letter, signed by Dr. Emmanuel A. R. Gaima, Secretary to the President, confirmed that the initial term of Dr. Mustapha expired on January 12th, 2025. The reappointment is in accordance with Section 7 (3) of the Bank of Sierra Leone Act, 2019, and was authorized by His Excellency the President, Brig. (Rtd.) Julius Maada Bio.

“I am to also inform you that in accordance with Section 7 (3) of the Bank of Sierra Leone Act, 2019, it has pleased His Excellency the President, Brig. (Rtd.) Julius Maada Bio to renew your appointment for another three-year (3) period with effect from 13th January, 2025,” stated the letter.
The terms and conditions of Dr. Mustapha’s appointment remain unchanged.
This reappointment is expected to ensure continued stability and experienced leadership within the central bank’s governing body.
