In a recent turn of events, Myk Berewa, the Communication Director at State House, took to his Facebook page to address popular Sierra Leonean artists, urging them to refrain from engaging in childish behavior.
This statement follows a previous post in which Berewa called on diplomats, ambassadors, envoys, and emissaries to uphold a certain level of decorum.
Berewa’s Facebook post read, “If you’re a diplomat, ambassador, envoy, or emissary; maintain some steeze. Koni wuna geda wuna sef.” This message was met with criticism from Kao Denero, who suggested that Berewa should be more direct in his approach. Denero pointed out instances where public figures, including a sitting Mayor in Kenema and Commissioner Ben Kelfala, were disrespected without any response from Berewa.
In response to the backlash, Berewa defended his stance by stating, “The paradox is that I’m not even a LAJ fan, yet my office and I have supported Kao quietly more than any other entertainer in Sierra Leone.
If you’re a fan of either of them, tell them to man up and leave their childish ways behind.” Berewa also expressed his covert support for Kao Denero, encouraging him to handle his issues with LAJ in a mature manner.
Overall, Berewa’s message serves as a reminder to all public figures, including artists, to conduct themselves with dignity and professionalism in their interactions.
