His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio, after being elected as President of the Republic of Sierra Leone through his wisdom created the National Council for Civic Education and Development to help educate Sierra Leoneans about their civic right and responsibility towards National Development.

Meanwhile, the National Council for Civic Education and Development and the Ministry of Basic and Secondary School Education are set to introduce CIVICS as a new subject in Sierra Leone’s Educational Sector to help build the mindset of pupils of this country on their civic duties.

However, on the 5th August, 2022 the Council and the Education Ministry are on a two (2) days Training of Trainers at the Makeni City Hall organized for Heads of Schools in Bombali District in preparedness for the introduction of the subject.

Khalilu Ibrahim Totangi, the Chairman for the Council affirmed that, the Institution has successfully developed the Civic Curriculum and Syllabus to be taught in the Primary and Secondary School across the country.
