Dreams are a universal human experience that can be described as a state of consciousness characterized by sensory, cognitive and emotional occurrences during sleep.
Some dreams are divine gifts to the heart, and such gifts come only when the heart is sound, healthy, innocent, and penetrated with faith in Allah Most High. Other dreams represent attacks on the heart. And still other dreams are either medicine for the heart, or windows to the heart that allow us to see our own hearts.
Many times when we dream about people, it is not always that something will happen to that particular individual, sometimes, it could be a sign of something that is happening in your life that is about to change.
Dreams can be interpreted, depending on the relationship the dreamer has with the Almighty.
In Islam, dreams are considered to be a kind of spiritual perception. The Quran refers to dreams as Ru’yaa (vision), Manam (sleep), Hulum (dream) and Bushra (tidings). And according to the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), “There are three types of dreams: a righteous dream which is glad tidings from Allah, the dream which causes sadness is from Shaitan and a dream from the ramblings of the mind.”
However the biblical perspective on dream is that it serves as a means of communication between humans and God and it can take many forms- visual images, auditory commands, frightening nightmares- but the common feature is a revelatory message from the divine to the dreamer.
