Sierra Leone’s National Telecommunications Commission (NATCOM) has on Tuesday announced that senior officials accused of holding fake degrees have been suspended while audit verification of their certificates continues.
NATCOM made this announcement following an Executive Management Committee meeting they had on Monday 9 May, 2022.
According to NATCOM, the following were resolved at the meeting :
“In view of the Director of Admin, and HR’s name being all over social media, he should step aside while the certificate verification audit continues.
All Africa Graduate University (AGU) and Dominion University certificate holders should step aside pending investigations.
All personnel who do not have certificates in their files are mandated to make their certificate(s) available on or before Wednesday 11″ May 2022; otherwise, they should step aside.
Director of Internal Audit and Risk Management to continue the certificate verification and audit for staff at Manager level and below, while the Board does same for Senior Management.”
Dr. John Idriss Lahai, the whistleblower that brought the matter to spotlight on social media reacted to the announcement on her social media page.
“Braima Ronnie Kargbo, NATCOM’s Director of Administration and Director of Human Resource Management was suspended yesterday,” he stated.
“NATCOM’s Commissioner Robert Kondema Kargbo (an AGU graduate) was also suspended (they will sack him eventually) at yesterday’s meeting.”
“Adeyemi Leroy Coker, an AGU graduate and a senior Administration Officer at NATCOM was also suspended yesterday,” Dr. Lanai added.
