The Minister of Internal Affairs, Rtd. AIG Morie Lengor Esq, has commended a team of Spanish volunteers, led by Jose Maria Dominguez Lopez, President of Ayuda Contenedores NGOs, for donating two fire engine trucks to the National Fire Force (NFF).
The ceremonial handover took place at the Ministry of Internal Affairs Conference Room on 14 Gloucester Street in Freetown.
Mr. Dominguez explained that their organization is an independent, voluntary, non-profit body that supports institutions in Sierra Leone. “These vehicles, together with the fire service equipment and gear, will add to the National Fire Service fleet,” he said. “We are currently conducting training sessions with NFF personnel to ensure emergency service staff are proficient and safe in operating the fire engines, observing standard operating procedures and safety measures during fire incidents.”

Minister Lengor acknowledged the team’s support and voluntary service, noting that the Ministry supervises agencies and departments tasked with internal security and public safety. He emphasized that donations such as these enhance the NFF’s capacity to provide fire safety and rescue services nationwide.
The Minister further assured that this collaboration will continue and called for ongoing support towards the Ministry’s agencies. He thanked the Spanish team and the people of Spain for their generosity, urging the NFF to utilize the vehicles for their intended purpose.

National Fire Force Chief, Alhaji Nazir Alie Kamanda Bongay, also expressed appreciation to the Minister and the Spanish team, as well as Caritas in Freetown, for their support.
He highlighted the importance of building the fire service’s capacity to effectively deliver its mandate to the people of Sierra Leone.
