A team from Sierra Leone’s National Revenue Authority (NRA) has undertaken a study tour to the Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA) to explore digital tax systems.
The delegation was led by Mr. Kabineh M. Kallon, Chairperson of the NRA Board.
The visit aimed to understand how Rwanda has developed its tax declaration and payment systems, especially the use of E-TAX. This system allows taxpayers to file and pay taxes online, making the process simpler and more efficient.
The team also studied Rwanda’s Electronic Billing Machine (EBM) system, which helps track sales and improve tax compliance. These tools have changed the way taxes are collected and have made it easier for both businesses and tax officials to manage records.
The tour was organized with the help of Rwanda Cooperation, under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. Discussions also covered the legal setup that supports digital tax services and the steps taken to manage the shift from paper-based systems.
This exchange of ideas is part of a wider effort to build stronger partnerships between developing countries. Both sides see this as a way to improve public services and strengthen their tax systems through shared experience and learning.
