Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Tamba Solomon Jimmy, the newly appointed Local Unit Commander (LUC) for the Mano River Division, conducted an unannounced patrol of the Dukor border post on Friday, May 3, 2025.
The operation was aimed at enhancing national security in the region.
The patrol commenced at 10:30 AM, with CSP Jimmy and his team traveling in a Sierra Leone Police (SLP) vehicle, registration number 373, to the critical crossing area situated between Liberia and Sierra Leone.
The unscheduled visit, according to the Sierra Leone Police, underscored CSP Jimmy’s commitment to ensuring the monitoring of all areas within his jurisdiction.
Upon his arrival at the border post, CSP Jimmy engaged with a military personnel stationed there, who was being assisted by local community youth. This interaction highlighted the collaborative efforts between state security forces and residents in maintaining security at the border.
The reception from the Dukor village community was reportedly positive, with some residents expressing their appreciation upon seeing the LUC. This response suggests a degree of community engagement in security matters, moving beyond a passive role.
Addressing the villagers, CSP Jimmy stated, “This visit forms part of my familiarization tour across the division. I am determined to understand the terrain, meet the people, and build stronger community-police bonds.”
CSP Tamba Solomon Jimmy’s leadership approach in the Mano River Division is described as emphasizing visibility, engagement, and collaboration with the community. His recent presence at the Dukor border post is seen as an illustration of this approach to policing in the area.
