The National Civil Registration Authority (NCRA) has issued a public notice addressing ongoing issues with the collection of ID cards. Since the production of National, Non-National, and ECOWAS ID cards began in January 2023, the NCRA has continued to issue these cards through its district offices and designated outlets nationwide.
Despite the issuance of SMS notifications to the mobile numbers provided by applicants, reports indicate that many individuals have not collected their ID cards even after being notified. An investigation by NCRA’s technical teams revealed that some mobile numbers given were incorrect or belonged to third parties, which has hindered the delivery of notifications. Additionally, some numbers were found to be non-existent.
As a result, numerous ID cards remain uncollected at NCRA offices and outlets across the country. The Authority is now calling on all individuals who applied for ID cards on or before July 31, 2024, to visit the NCRA offices or outlets where they applied to collect their cards, regardless of whether they have received a notification.
Applicants are advised to bring their ID card application slips to facilitate the collection process. The NCRA emphasizes the importance of retrieving these documents to ensure proper identification and service.
