The National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA) has provided essential relief items to victims of a recent fire incident at Tank Yard Field, behind the Presidential Lodge at Hill Station, Freetown.
The support was delivered on 9 December 2025 following a blaze on 4 December that reportedly resulted from faulty electrification in one of the rooms, causing extensive damage to 16 households.
Furthermore, the NDMA, through its Directorate of Relief and Response, conducted a preliminary assessment to determine the cause and impact of the damage. This assessment informed an immediate response aimed at alleviating the suffering of the affected families.

According to NDMA, each of the 16 households received a comprehensive package of essential relief items. These included a 50kg bag of rice, sardines, tomatoes, one gallon of vegetable oil, kitchen utensils, soap, buckets, two mattresses, and school supplies such as bags, books, pens, pencils, water bottles, and slippers. Additionally, 30 bundles of zinc, 2 boxes of roofing nails, and 2 boxes of wire nails were provided to assist in rebuilding damaged homes. All items were supplied directly by the NDMA to support the victims’ recovery process.
