“The Report is Bias” – NEC-SL Reacts to EU Election Follow-Up Mission Statement And Accuses Them of Unprofessional.

The National Electoral Commission has said the report made by the EU Election Follow-Up Mission on the state of NEC in the country is biased and unprofessional.

NEC stated that the EU Report did not reflect NEC’s account narrated during a discussion with the head of EU Election Follow-Up Mission on the implementation of the Elections Observation Mission (EOM) recommendations on the 27th October, 2021.

“The release is biased and influenced by repeated allegations against Election Management Bodies in a bid to castigate and derail the hard-won reputation of NEC-SL”, the National Electoral Commission stated.

NEC-SL added that they challenge the Report of the EU Election Follow-Up Mission, stating that it’s misleading to the electorates of Sierra Leone.

NEC-SL also mentioned that they are an independent institution mandated by the 1991 Constitution of Sierra Leone to conduct free, fair election, and that they accept recommendations but do not allow their independence to be interfered with.
