A newborn baby who was reportedly abandoned in a pit toilet in Bo City is now responding well to medical care at the Bo Government Hospital, authorities have confirmed.
The incident, described by locals as disturbing, occurred when a passerby, Idrissa, reportedly heard faint cries coming from inside the toilet. He immediately raised the alarm, prompting nearby residents to rush to the scene and rescue the baby alive.

According to reports, the child was in critical condition when found but was quickly stabilized and admitted to the hospital, where doctors say she is now improving steadily.
Meanwhile, the woman alleged to be the mother of the baby has denied abandoning the child. She claimed that she had left her baby in a room and later returned to discover the child was missing.

Residents of the area have called on the Sierra Leone Police to conduct a thorough investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. Many also expressed relief and gratitude that the baby survived, crediting the swift intervention of the passerby and the community for saving the child’s life.

Authorities have emphasized the need for vigilance and community support to prevent similar incidents in the future, while the police continue to investigate the matter.
