Njala University is set to sign an important Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with several government ministries aimed at strengthening collaboration in education, research, and national development, particularly in the Bonthe District.

The official signing ceremony will take place today, Friday, 19th September 2025, at the Senate Room, University Secretariat, Njala Campus.

The agreement brings together Njala University’s Bonthe Campus, the Ministry of Technical and Higher Education (MTHE), the Ministry of Defense (MOD), and the Ministry of Transport and Aviation.

Also participating is the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF) Navy Detachment based in Bonthe.

This MOU is designed to promote joint academic and research programs, facilitate cadet and student training, enhance knowledge sharing, and drive maritime research and environmental stewardship.

It is expected to serve as a strategic framework for coordinated development initiatives in Bonthe and beyond.

University officials say the partnership marks a major step in enhancing Njala University’s contribution to national progress and highlights the importance of civil-military cooperation in addressing key developmental challenges in Sierra Leone.
