There will be no additional charges for calls between Sierra Leone and Liberia, effective May 2, 2025, while charges for calls between Liberia and The Gambia will be eliminated on July 1, 2025.

This decision follows the signing of Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) between Sierra Leone’s National Communications Authority (NatCA) and the Liberia Telecommunications Authority (LTA) in January 2025.

The LTA announced this move on March 20, 2025, stating that it aligns with ECOWAS Regulation C/REG 21/12/17, which promotes free roaming within the West African region. This initiative aims to enable citizens and businesses to benefit from reduced international call charges.

The new policy is expected to enhance regional integration, strengthen trade, and improve communication and mobility within the ECOWAS community. As the implementation date approaches, stakeholders are optimistic about the positive impact on connectivity and collaboration between the two nations.
