For a very long time now, Sierra Leoneans have been exploited by the West African Examination Council (WAEC) for which many parents/guardians have been suffering in silence.
The inhuman acts by the examination council before now put more pressure on parents and guardians by asking them to buy scratch cards to access the result of their children and deliberately delayed the results reaching the schools in time.
This exploitation has been collapsed by the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education (MBSSE) through innovation of a factchecker of result via SMS at no cost. This will even allow the uneducated in the remote village in Sierra Leone to not only access the results but also check for their placements.
It is estimated that 161,691 pupils took the National Primary School Examination (NPSE) in 2021 and most of those pupils should have bought scratch card to access the results at Le40,000 equivalent almost $4. But with the Result Factchecker introduced by the Ministry, the government puts back Le6,467,640,000.
Same was done for 131,822 pupils who took the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) putting back Le5,272,880,000 in the pockets of parents.
This brings the money that government has literarily put back into the pockets of parent Le11,744,520,000 devoid of cost of internet café and transportation.
According to Salone Times, many parents can now access results without spending anything for which most of them have commended the Minister of Basic Education, David Monina Sengeh.
