The National Revenue Authority has on Monday 14 April, 2025, issued a warning to tax defaulters across the country, giving them a 48-hour deadline to clear their tax obligations or face strict enforcement actions.

According to the public notice issued by NRA’s Public Affairs and Tax Education Unit, comprehensive recovery actions for both current and late taxes, including associated interest and penalties, are underway.

The taxes being examined are: Pay-As-You-Earn (PAYE), Corporation and Personal Income Tax, Goods and Services Tax (GST), Payroll Tax, Rental Income Tax, Customs Duties, Petroleum and Domestic Excise Tax, Royalties, and Mining Licenses.

As per the notice, defaulters have until Wednesday, April 16, 2025, to comply. If this isn’t done, enforcement measures include third-party recovery or decoration, business closures, travel bans, restrictions on clearing goods at ports, public name and shaming, asset seizure and auction, and potential lawsuits will follow.
