The National Revenue Authority (NRA) has issued a public notice reminding all registered persons and businesses involved in the sale or dealing of spirits or alcoholic drinks (liquor) that they are mandated to pay an annual license fee to the Government of Sierra Leone.
The notice, issued “By Order of the Commissioner General,” emphasizes that this requirement is not new but is legally enshrined in the Liquor and Licensing Ordinance of 1958 (Cap 238), Schedule C.
The NRA, in conjunction with the Justice Sector Coordination Office (JoSL), is urging all liquor dealers to ensure they comply promptly with these licensing requirements “to avoid legal consequences” and “avoid penalties.”

This move highlights the government’s commitment to regulating the alcoholic beverage industry and ensuring all businesses operate within the legal framework, contributing their requisite fees to the national revenue.
Finally, the NRA encourages the business community to “Stay compliant, avoid penalties!”
