The National Sports Authority (NSA) has pledged strong institutional support to the newly elected President of the African Boxing Confederation, Solomon D. Kargbo, following his successful election to the continental post.

Kargbo was formally received by the NSA on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, after being presented by the Secretary General of the Sierra Leone Boxing Association (SLBA), Alhaji Comba. The reception took place at the NSA, where he was introduced to the Executive Director, Dr. Emmanuel Saffa Abdulai.

During the meeting, Kargbo expressed appreciation to the NSA and the people of Sierra Leone for the support that contributed to his election. He said the position was not only a personal achievement but also a responsibility to represent the country with dignity at the African level.

I’m representing Sierra Leone with pride. I’m grateful for this opportunity to serve,” Kargbo said, according to remarks made during the presentation.

Congratulating him, Dr. Emmanuel Saffa Abdulai described Kargbo’s election as a major success for Sierra Leone and a sign of growing confidence in the country’s sports leadership on the international stage. He assured the new African Boxing President of the NSA’s readiness to work closely with him.

I know what it takes to win big on the international stage. The NSA stands ready to support you to achieve great things, especially in organizing national events,” Dr. Abdulai said.

Dr. Abdulai further noted that Kargbo’s election brings added recognition to Sierra Leone and presents new opportunities for the development of boxing at both national and continental levels. He reaffirmed the NSA’s commitment to supporting initiatives that promote sports growth and enhance Sierra Leone’s presence in international sports administration.
