The Ombudsman of the Republic of Sierra Leone, Tejan Ahmed Israel Jah Esq., made an official courtesy call on Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to Russia, His Excellency Mohamed Yongawo, and the staff of the Sierra Leone Embassy in Moscow today.

Ombudsman Jah’s visit comes as he prepares to attend the VIII International Scientific and Practical Conference, where he has been invited by the Human Rights Commissioners of the Russian Federation. The conference, which will be held on October 10, 2024, focuses on “Topical Issues of Human Rights Protection in Health Care,” and is expected to feature discussions on best practices in human rights protection. Participants will include ombudsmen from various countries, Russian human rights commissioners, international organizations, and academics

During the meeting, Ombudsman Jah expressed his appreciation for the warm welcome extended by Ambassador Yongawo and commended the architectural design of the embassy. Their discussions covered the longstanding bilateral relationship between Sierra Leone and Russia, as well as key diplomatic matters since Ambassador Yongawo’s appointment by President Julius Maada Bio.

The meeting concluded with a friendly lunch, symbolizing the strong ties and cooperation between the two officials. Ombudsman Jah’s visit highlights the importance of Sierra Leone’s participation in international human rights discussions and diplomatic engagement.
