Sierra Leone’s leading Mobile Telecommunication company, Orange has officially launched a new Orange mobile Money App for non-Orange Money users on the 9th, September 2022, in a press conference at their headquarters.

The Orange Money App For All is an innovative digital initiative in the company’s quest to achieve its financial inclusion drive for all Sierra Leoneans. The Orange Money App For All simply means that if you are in Sierra Leone and you are using a Sierra Leonean Simcard, irrespective of the mobile company
you can enjoy Orange Money Services.

In his official launching of the Orange Money App for All, CEO of Orange, Sekou Amadou Bah, stated that “We believe on innovation, we believe also on inclusion and I want to declare the App available for all Sierra Leoneans and welcome on board. Whatever sim card you have, If you are in Sierra Leone you are welcome in the Orange Money landscape. We are here to bring innovation to the highest level. We are committed to giving you the best digital service in Sierra Leone.”

Abibatu Baxter, Head of Marketing, strategy and partnership described the New App as a form of Naturalisation process that facilitates non-orange subscribers from other mobile networks to enjoy Orange Money Services. She added that the rationale behind the launching of the new App is to answer the cry of Sierra Leoneans. In her demonstration of how the Orange Money For All App Works, she enlightened the audience that the New App can be downloaded from the Google play store or the QR Code can be scanned with Iphones or Androids.

In his concise statement, Chief Executive Officer, Orange Money Finance, David Mansaray revealed that “This is something big in our view. We consider this particular service or what we are doing today as a game changer in the market and so I’m so much excited about it and that is why you can see of all of us here are smiling and excited about it. Mobile Money has been in Sierra Leone for quite a very long time and Orange money has been here since 2017. We have come a long way from the days when Orange Money was insignificant.”

And while it is an open secret that many Sierra Leoneans still do not have access to mobile money accounts, they either hardly ever or possibly never use them. Orange Money is now changing the narrative.

Orange money is striving towards leaving no one behind in its digital penetration and financial inclusion drive. The new Orange Money App for All seeks to alleviate poverty, transform lives, or is a solution to commonly held financial problems for most people. It is likely a major solution that strives to improve market efficiency and resilience in both Sierra Leone’s formal and informal cash-based sectors.

However, It must be noted that Orange Money is also considering people without access to Iphones and Androids on how they can also benefit from this new scheme throughout Sierra Leone
