The Orange SL Foundation and ActionAid Sierra Leone have formalised a new partnership to advance digital access for persons living with disabilities, signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the development of a Digital Inclusion Training Centre.

According to the event programme, the signing ceremony brought together representatives from the two organisations, the Ministry of Social Welfare, and Persons with Disabilities.

Mrs Annie Wonnie-Katta gave the Declaration of Purpose for the initiative. Key remarks followed from Mr Foday-Bassie Swaray, Country Director of ActionAid SL, and Mrs. Aicha Toure, CEO of Orange SL. The Ministry of Social Welfare was represented by Chief Commissioner Brima Abdulai Sheku, underscoring government support for the project.

The highlight of the program was the signing of the MoU document and its exchange between partners. Closing courtesies were delivered by Mr Joseph Alieu Kamara, representative of persons with disabilities.

The partnership will focus on setting up a Digital Inclusion Training Centre specifically for persons living with disabilities. The centre is expected to provide digital literacy, skills training, and access to assistive technology, in line with efforts to reduce the digital divide and promote inclusive development in Sierra Leone.

The collaboration aligns with Orange SL Foundation’s work on digital and social inclusion and ActionAid SL’s mandate to support marginalised and vulnerable communities. Officials say the centre will help create pathways to education, employment, and civic participation for persons with disabilities.
