As part of its longstanding tradition of giving back, Orange Sierra Leone has once again embraced the spirit of Ramadan by distributing food supplies to ten mosques across the nation in 2025.

The telecom giant reached out to communities in Freetown, Bo, Kenema, Kono, and Tonkolili, providing essential items to support worshippers throughout the sacred month.

At a handover event held at the Nurul Haqq Mosque in Goderich, Freetown, Mohamed Santos Bangura, the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Officer, highlighted Orange Sierra Leone’s deep-rooted commitment to uplifting religious groups during their key observances. He explained that the initiative reflects the company’s guiding principles of compassion, accountability, and courage.

“We take pride in supporting mosques during Ramadan and churches during Lent each year,” Bangura said. “Our selection process is designed to be transparent and equitable, allowing us to reach diverse communities. While this year’s recipients are benefiting now, we aim to rotate support in the future to touch as many lives as possible.”

The Imam of Ilmo Zikre Mosque in Hill Station, Alhaji Chernor Mohamed Jalloh, warmly thanked Orange Sierra Leone for its generosity. Speaking on behalf of his congregation, he praised the company’s decade-long partnership with religious bodies, noting the timely nature of the donation as worshippers enter the final, prayer-intensive days of Ramadan.

“Our mosque has enjoyed a close bond with Orange Sierra Leone for years,” Alhaji Jalloh said. “This support is especially meaningful now, as we dedicate long hours to worship and reflection.” He added a Quranic prayer, underscoring the blessings of generosity and unity.
