The Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), Ibrahim Tawa Conteh, has pledged to recover SLE 100 billion for President Julius Maada Bio’s administration by the end of the ongoing PAC hearings.
During a session on August 20, 2024, he revealed that the committee has already recovered SLE 50 billion since its inception in June 2024.
Hon. Conteh stressed that the PAC’s main focus is on recovering funds owed to the state, rather than scrutinizing documents.
He urged ministries, departments, agencies (MDAs), and private entities to ensure accurate documentation before appearing before the committee.
Despite not retaining any recovered funds, the PAC remains dedicated to its national duty of contributing to the Consolidated Fund.
Hon. Conteh emphasized the PAC’s unique commitment to recovering state funds without compromise or favor.
Go look for the millions that have been stolen by Bio and his wife for Hands of Our Girls, then have Bio give back the money he stole when he went to Lebanon. He took money supposedly for medical expenses, but the hospital wasn’t paid and the government probably paid for that after Bio took/stole money for that purpose, although, why he chose Lebanon, I don’t understand, that probably should be investigated. You want a hundred billion, you can get it easy if you start with Bio.
Honourable, that’s the best to do for the country. Some enemies of the state have bent to stop aid coming to the country, so the best is for the government to go after those who are stealing, to return back what they have stolen so that the government can recycle those funds to help the country.
