During the government weekly press conference, the Deputy Minister of Information and Civic Education Abdel Aziz Bawoh confirmed the continue process of the constitutional Review.

Bawoh disclosed that the 134 recommendations from the Justice Edmond Cowah report will be properly compiled and sent to parliament for approval with the full participation of all political parties in the country.

Furthermore, the Office of the Attorney General and Minister of Justice has also updated the Leaders of Political Parties across the country on the present status of the Constitutional Review Process at a meeting held at the Office of the Political Parties Regulation Commission (PPRC).

In his update, the Deputy Minister of Justice, Alpha Sesay clarified that the constitutional review is not a new one, but a product of the Dr. Peter Tucker and Justice Edmond Cowan constitutional review reports and also the 2017 and 2021 government whitepapers on the CR Process.

The Deputy Minister of Justice also informed the meeting that some recommendations in the final Tripartite Committee report are also going to be included in the report together with Dr. Peter Tucker and Justice Edmond Cowan constitutional review reports.

Deputy Minister Alpha Sesay also stated that some of the recommendations have already been agreed upon by the 2021 government whitepaper.

He also assured the leaders of political parties that the process will be consultative at every stage, adding that the government is committed to a national ownership of the process and will soon embark on a nationwide consultative engagement on the final report.
