The Committee of Appointments and the Public Service of Parliament has approved the appointment of Joseph Egbenda Kapuwa Esq as Chairman of the Independent Media Commission (IMC).
As a lawyer and communications professional, Joseph is expected to utilize his unique experiences to oversee and effectively regulate the media landscape.
Kapuwa had been serving as the Director-General of the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC) since 2018 when He was appointed by President Julius Maada Bio. He now replaces the outgoing IMC Chairman Victor Massquoi.
Reacting to his approval, the President of Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ), Ahmed Sahid Nasralla congratulated Kapuwa for successfully sailing through Parliament.

The Independent Media Commission is an autonomous body establish to regulate media institutions in Sierra Leone. IMC ensure compliance, establish categories of media licenses , ensure fair coverage and maintains register of Media institutions amongst other things.
