The Parliament of Sierra Leone has formally invited stakeholders to submit position papers or legal opinions on the proposed Constitution of Sierra Leone (Amendment) Act, 2025, as part of efforts to strengthen public participation in the law-making process.

The call was made in an official notice issued by the Legislative Services Department of Parliament and addressed to “All Stakeholders.” The notice, dated February 3, 2026, states that the Bill has already been introduced and read for the first time in Parliament in line with the Rules of Procedure.

According to the notice, Parliament described the Bill as one of “a primary nature” in the country’s democratization process. It explained that the request for position papers is intended to enrich scrutiny of the proposed law and broaden participatory law-making.

I am directed to refer to the above subject matter and to inform you that the Bill entitled; The Constitution of Sierra Leone (Amendment) Act, 2025 has been introduced and read the first time in accordance with the Rules of Procedure,” the notice stated.

It further noted that Parliament is seeking informed views and legal opinions from relevant institutions, organizations and individuals to help improve the quality of debate and decision-making on the Bill.
