The Minister of Information and Civic Education, Chernor Bah paid a courtesy visit to Foster + Partners in London to discuss the transformative Sherbro Island Project. Accompanied by Siaka Stevens, Co-Founder of Sherbro Alliance Partners (SAP), the minister explored plans to turn Sherbro Island into a modern, sustainable urban metropolis.
The visit, which took place at the offices of Sherbro Alliance Partners and Foster + Partners, included a site tour and in-depth discussions on the project’s vision. The Sherbro Island City project aims to revitalize the historic Bonthe Town, positioning it as a strategic entry point to the island, while focusing on sustainable development.
Siaka Stevens described the initiative as a milestone in Sierra Leone’s urban planning efforts. “The Sherbro Island City project marks a turning point in Sierra Leone’s commitment to sustainable urban development. Bonthe, with its rich history, provides the perfect foundation,” said Stevens. He emphasized that the project will be a source of national pride and unity for all Sierra Leoneans.
Minister Bah expressed confidence in the project’s potential, noting its significance for both the region’s infrastructure and Sierra Leone’s broader development goals. “This project is a symbol of Sierra Leone’s future,” he said, highlighting the strong partnership between the government and SAP.
The visit underscores the collaboration between the Sierra Leonean government and Sherbro Alliance Partners as they move forward with plans for the Sherbro Island City initiative.
