A 38-year-old plumber has been charged with larceny for allegedly stealing a GUMA Valley Water Company meter valued at 5,000 Leones. The case was brought before Magistrate Sahr Kekura at Pademba Road Court.

According to the charge sheet, the incident occurred on March 18, 2025, at 3A Syke Street in Freetown’s Western Area. The meter, entrusted to Gibril Yillah, reportedly disappeared while in the plumber’s care. The accused, identified as John Kamara, maintained his innocence and entered a not guilty plea when the charges were read.

During the proceedings, Prosecutor DPC 17649 Brima Kargbo requested a brief adjournment due to the absence of a key witness. However, Magistrate Kekura denied bail, remanding Kamara to the Male Correctional Centre in Freetown. The case is set to resume on April 10, 2025.
