Police in Kenema have arrested a notorious drug dealer known as Seppeh following a sting operation at the IDA Community.

According to the Kenema Police Division, the operation was led by Superintendent Bob Musa Mansaray on Friday, September 12. Officers said they recovered about 200 wraps of Kush and several parcels of marijuana from Seppeh’s trading post, which has since been demolished.

Residents of the community welcomed the arrest, describing Seppeh as a long-standing menace whose activities had troubled the area for years. Police confirmed that he is now in custody and assisting with further investigations.

The drug Kush has become one of the most pressing social problems in Sierra Leone, especially among young people.

The country has already declared a health emergency following increasing numbers of Kush addicts. Scores of youth are in rehab centres recovering from addiction. Its widespread abuse has been linked to mental health issues, crime, broken families, and the loss of productivity in schools and workplaces. Authorities warn that unless urgent action is taken, the grip of Kush on communities could worsen the country’s public health and security challenges.
