The Sierra Leone Police at Wanjama Checkpoint in Kenema seized a large quantity of dry leaves suspected to be cannabis sativa in the early hours of Thursday, 16th October 2025.
The vehicle, registered AWR-589, was intercepted, and three individuals are currently assisting police in the investigation at the Kenema Police Station.
Detective Assistant Superintendent of Police Mohamed H. Feika, Regional Crime Officer, said the police remain committed to ensuring the fight against harmful drugs succeeds in the region. He also recalled that a few days ago, four other individuals were intercepted at the same checkpoint with the same substance.

Police are calling on the public to remain vigilant and provide credible information that could lead to the arrest of drug dealers.
Forensic testing of the seized materials is underway, and authorities are tracing the origin and intended destination of the consignment. Coordination with other regional checkpoints is ongoing to determine possible links to a wider trafficking network.
