The Sierra Leone Police has strongly denied social media reports alleging that soldiers shot and killed two civilians at the Songo Toll Gate.
In a statement issued by the Masiaka Division, police said an immediate investigation was launched following the circulation of the claims online. The inquiry was led by the Local Unit Commander (LUC), who engaged community stakeholders in Makoloh to verify the allegations.
According to police findings, community leaders in Makuloh confirmed that no shooting, injury, or death occurred at the tollgate. The police further stated that no reports of gunshot-related injuries or fatalities were received at the Masiaka Police Station.

The alleged victims, identified as Daniel Sesay and Abass Sesay, reportedly admitted during questioning that the incident had been misrepresented.
They told investigators that they were attempting to bypass the tollgate through the old Makoloh road when security personnel stopped them. In the process of fleeing, Daniel Sesay sustained what was described as a minor injury to his arm. Police emphasized that no shots were fired during the incident.

The Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces also conducted internal checks after the allegations surfaced. According to authorities, all deployed personnel accounted for their ammunition, and no rounds were found to be missing.
Based on these findings, police concluded that the social media reports were false. Authorities have urged members of the public to disregard unverified information and to rely on official sources for accurate updates.
