The Sierra Leone Police (SLP) has received four containers of full-kit combat uniforms as part of its ongoing 2025-2029 reforms aimed at promoting a unified and professional appearance across the Force.
The containers were officially offloaded at the Police Field in Kingtom in the presence of senior officers and logistical personnel. SLP officials described the development as a major step toward improving discipline, identity and operational efficiency within the Force.
Inspector General of Police, William Fayia Sellu, expressed satisfaction with the delivery, describing it as “a significant milestone.” “Seeing our officers dressed uniformly enhances our institutional identity and projects a more professional image to the public,” he said.

IGP Sellu noted that the adoption of a single standard uniform will strengthen the sense of belonging within the Force and improve visibility and public trust. “The era of different colours and inconsistent uniforms in the Force is over. From now on, we are moving towards a single, standardized appearance,” he affirmed.
He added that distribution of the new uniforms will be carried out in phases to ensure that officers nationwide are eventually equipped with the standard kit. “This is just the beginning. Eventually, every officer will be provided with the standard uniform to promote cohesion and easy identification,” he stated.

The Inspector General encouraged officers to wear the new uniforms with pride and to maintain a smart and presentable appearance at all times, noting that doing so upholds the dignity of the Sierra Leone Police.
