Senior officials of the Freetown-East Regional Police have increased measures to enhance coordination among law enforcement units following a surge in theft, armed robbery, and street violence in the area.
At a strategic meeting held on Friday, August 23, 2025, Superintendent John S. Koroma, Regional Operations Officer for Freetown-East, convened Divisional Operations Officers and Commanders of the Operations Support Division (OSD) to discuss joint approaches to crime prevention.
The meeting emphasized building a unified response to growing security concerns raised by residents and local businesses.
The Regional Commander, AIG Francis Brima Meinday, outlined teamwork and discipline as critical to successful policing operations, including raids, checkpoints, and intelligence-driven patrols.
Deputy Regional Commander, ACP Patrick Lahai Dumbuya underscored professionalism and public trust as key components of effective law enforcement.
Superintendent Koroma called for closer collaboration among units, noting that no single division can tackle the challenges alone.
At the conclusion of the meeting, officers committed to intensifying joint operations and reinforcing coordination to improve safety across Freetown-East.
The initiative notably aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 16, which promotes peace, justice, and strong institutions.
