A high-level delegation from the Sierra Leone Police (SLP), led by the Director of Operations, AIG Dr John Martin Senesie, has arrived safely in Monrovia ahead of a five-day bilateral meeting aimed at strengthening joint border security cooperation between Sierra Leone and Liberia.

The delegation, which includes Regional Police Commanders AIG Brima Kanneh of Freetown East and AIG Andrew Mustapha Kamara of the Southern Region, as well as other senior police officers, was warmly received at the Liberian border by the Liberia National Police (LNP), the Joint Border Security Management, and traditional leaders.

In keeping with local custom, the team was welcomed with a ceremonial fowl and kola nut.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, AIG Senesie reaffirmed the SLP’s commitment to deepening bilateral cooperation for peaceful coexistence between the two neighbouring nations. He noted that Liberia and Sierra Leone share strong cultural ties, describing the visit as “a return home” for the Sierra Leone delegation.

The five-day working engagement underscores the recently signed communique between the LNP and SLP, which seeks to enhance security collaboration within the Mano River Union basin. Liberian border security stakeholders expressed optimism about the strengthened partnership, emphasising its importance for regional stability and effective cross-border policing.

More details will follow as the high-level joint border security dialogue continues in Monrovia.
